JAPAN JOURNAL OF INDUSTRIAL AND APPLIED MATHEMATICS, 22(1) 45-56, Feb, 2005We study the finite element method for the biharmonic Dirichlet problem in polygonal domains. In this paper, we adopt simple conforming finite element methods and derive quasi-optimal rate of convergence for the error. The main tool in this analysis is an interpolation theory.
