A newly introduced "Research Project" is set as a learning unit in the science subject in Korean elementary schools. The unit shows how to set tasks, promote research, and make presentations and so on for Research Project activities. Abilities and attitudes cultured in the learning unit of science "Research Project" have much in common with those in ESD (Education for Sustainable Development). Children's approach to Research Project in science will not only develop scientific abilities and attitudes but also play a role in acquiring abilities and attitudes to consider sustainable society. Moreover, it is expected that the approach will lay the groundwork also for teachers in Korea to address education for sustainable society.
